This past Saturday I made the trip over to CookieLand and spent a lovely day hanging out with my Best Friend.
Clickety Biggety!
She was drinking some water while giving me a quickie spinning lesson. What you didn't know she was really a Ladybug? I bet you all think she's a cookie, well no chips there. ;^)
Man, that spinning lesson was super fun! I need to get some super soft merino roving to play around with. I brought this cheapie course pink stuff. Did not want to spin at all. o.0 Thankfully, Cookie being as Fantabulous as she is sent me home with some really yummy roving to practice with. She thinks of everything. :D
That was taken at a Starbucks we popped into. I hadn't had an Iced Green Tea in days and the heat was out of control so I really NEEDED one. I wonder if they put crack in that stuff. It's like my catnip. Heh.
The funniest thing happened while we we're taking this photo. Some random California Dude was looking at us weird and seemed on the verge of asking what we were doing and Cookie without any shame or embarrassment says, don't mind us, just a couple of bloggers. <3
When I grow up I wanna be able to say the right thing for any situation. The dude said something to the effect of do whatever you want, but he still seemed awfully confuzzled by the whole thing.
Priceless. Got to see my Cookie and make some random dude feel awkward. That was only the start of the day too.
We spent a bit of time in the cool air conditioning of the Starbucks. We did a giftie exchange and a show and tell. She showed me the most beautiful and exquisitely softest lace I've ever seen PLUS how she casts on for her super awesome toe up short row socks. *dances* (In addition to the spinning stuff) I showed her the two lace projects I'm in the middle of (yes me, really) and the Shrimp yarn socks I'm working on. (I cast on to the second sock on the car ride over to see her. The honey was driving, btw. :P Though still need to do the toe on the first one...)
Now her evil plan in showing me this crazy ass soft lace was because her LYS carries the crazy ass soft yarn with which the lace was knit. Though she got her yarn from Joan as a giftie. Henceforth the yarn will be known as Joan yarn. Trust me it's much easier to pronounce and remember. o.0
The yarn in question is the highly soft, squeal inducingly so, Filatura Di Crosa's Superior, which is 70% cashmere, 30% silk. *drool* I got mine in the light blue as it suited me best from the selectin available. GORGEOUS!!!
I cannot say enough about this yarn. I'm in love. :D
After I get the two (well three if we count that one shawl, but as it is purgatory until I decide what to do with it and may very well be frogged it doesn't count... shut up.) lace projects I'm working on, that I actually like finished I'm going to use that yarn for the Alpine Lace since the yarn was so pretty and perfect on Cookie's.
We left the Starbucks after I had been about as weird as one person can be in one place before they ask you to leave and then we headed off for lunch.
Did I mention it was hot in Cookieland that day? Hot as in melt your face. Thankfully I opted to skip the makeup that day. o.0 (which to be honest I skip most days...)
After lunch we made our way over to Babetta's Yarn and Gifts, Cookie's LYS. I love that place.
I was very good and only picked up the crazy ass soft yarn plus some super otterish sock yarn. I think I will knit the otterish yarn as my next pair of socks for Summer Of Socks. :D
Why yes I do need to put the button up. In my defense I haven't been around for ages. Hope I can still remember how. *head explodes*
Around the time we were in Babetta's some weird ass Thunderheads started to look a bit weird outside. Babetta was keeping an eye on it and gave us a heads up.
When we left the yarn shop Cookie was driving me back to my Honey by way of the cool looking tree's and whatnot. They have Olive Tree's there!!! I did not know that. They have all kinds of kickass cool plants growing there.
Next time we should take a tour of your cool plant stuffs. :D
Remember those thunder clouds I mentioned, yeah well half on California is on fire now. (lightening strike fires) The smoke is a bit much here from it all. *cough* I don't see how anyone any closer is breathing at all by this point.
It was a super faboo Saturday with My Cookie. I am so glad we were able to pull our schedules together to make that happen. :D
Tune in next time for Socks!
It was only 103F that day. :p
We need to do that again, but on a day when we have more time and less heat. I was just a little out of it. /sigh
