Guess what?... I've joined another Swap Thingy. So this is my second swap/secret goodie type thing. It's Knit Sock Kit Swap. I'm so excited. I'm going to design my own bag. Now I just have to wait to get my Pal so I can see what they like so I can get going on it. *dances*
I've also joined another of the Knit Alongs. (The regular kind where you don't have to mail anything to anyone and get to keep what you knit or do whatever you want with it. *L*) The KAL is Bitchin' Mittens. (How cool is that?!) For Bitchin' Mittens I get to explore and just be free. I get to make crazy artistic/out there/uber faboo mittens. PLUS it's being hosted by the lovely and talented Dave Daniels. :D Oh and there's a prize going to be awarded or something at the end. *L* Not really sure about all that. I'm just excited about the mittens I'm going to make. *GRIN* Sign Ups open until a few days before it all ends so go check it out! (although you'll want to sign up sooner so you can get to work on your Bitchin' Mittens!)
Okay so here is my KSKS Questionnaire:
What are your favorite colors? I'm kinda all over the place on this one. *L* I like Pinks, Purples, Blues, greens... any cool mixed color combos.
Are you a new sock knitter? Yes I am. :D
How long have you been knitting socks? Lets see I started my first pair of socks on Monday June 5th. I'm still working on the second sock. I love knitting socks so much. It's true love. :D
Do you prefer solid or multicolored yarn? Multicolored is my addiction. Just something about the excitement of seeing how it will knit up. Plus I love colors and the more the merry. ;)
What fibers do you prefer in sock yarn? I've only ever used wool... as I am still on my first pair of socks. In general I'm a wool/alpaca/llama kinda gal anyway. I love natural fibers, but I'm also into the idea of Blends to make things last longer or have an easier care life. ;)
Where do you usually knit socks? I do most of my knitting all over the place. *L* I like to sit outside and knit. I knit in bed while I watch TV/movies. I knit at the computer and on the phone. I knit on planes or any kind of travel really. I knit in the car while the honey is driving. I knit in parking lots standing outside the car while I wait for the the honey to hurry back from getting stuff at Home Depot. *L* I knit in bars and at restaurants. I knit pretty much where I can.
How do you usually carry/store small projects? Anyway I can. *L* For walking around the house the last few days I've had a small yarn ball sized plastic bag with loop handles. I slip that over my wrist with the yarn in the bag and can walk around knitting or take it outside to knit or have it in bed without the cat getting excited about yarn. Though For small projects I also just carry around my big bag with three projects in it and knit what I have time/attention for at the moment. When I'm out in public I stick the sock in my purse though. ;)
What are your favorite sock knitting patterns? Ones I can do. *L* Right now I'm still doing the sock class easy basic rib cuff sock. I've looked at all the free sock patterns online and will eventually try those once I finish a few of the projects on my needles. So as far as a Fav, don't have one. I'm up for anything. ;)
What are your favorite sock knitting techniques? I'm new so I don't really have one yet. My honey got me the book on knitting socks on two circular needles, but I haven't tried it yet. Right now I'm just doing the basic DPN's and heel flap method.
What new techniques would you like to try? I don't even know what all is out there yet so I'm not sure what there is to try. *L*
Do you prefer circulars or dpns for sock knitting? At the present moment I'm pleased with DPN's, although down the road I will try the Circs. ;)
What are some of your favorite yarns? I love super soft wool and alpaca. I'm also into wool and silk blends. Alpaca and silk blends too. *drool*
What yarn do you totally covet? I'm not sure there is a yarn I am covetting at the moment. Although any of the really nifty handpainted colorways always make me weak in the knees. *L*
Any pattern you would love to make if money and time were no object? I've yet to encounter this as a problem so I don't really have an answer. I'm so new I don't know what the obstacles are yet. *L*
Favorite kind of needles (brand, materials, straights or circs, etc)? I'm really enjoying my lattern moons, but I've heard they are weak once you get down to US size 3 and smaller. I'm wanting to try the Crystal Palace BamBoo needles when I get to the smaller sizes as I've had people tell me they last longer and have a good knit to them. I've also heard good things about Brittany so I'll likely give them a try, although I've never seen them in the smaller sizes. In general I'm happy with my Clover BamBoo needles... although I don't care for the smaller ones as they are just too bendy and I'd likely snap their little heads off. o.0 I like the wooden needles the best so far. Metal is just too slick (unless I need slick for a specific project) and the plastic ones just don't do it for me.
If you were a specific kind of yarn, which brand and kind of yarn would you be? If I was a a type of yarn I would be Lorna's Laces Lion and Lamb (50% wool & 50% silk). I would be soft, yet durable, stranded with imperfections that only add to my charm and a lot of rich lustrous shine (shiny!!) that allows me to show off my beauty. I'm not made for everyone, but those that take the time to appreciate me will see what I am and enjoy me for just being me.
Do you have a favorite candy or mail-able snack? I like chocolate, milk and dark chocolate. *L* Unique salty snacks are always cool too. So is anything with coconut or caramel. I'm pretty open for anything really. *L*
What’s your favorite animal? Sea Otters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loves them a lot. :D
Do you have pets? Yes.
What are their species/names/ages? I have a Kitty named TKK. She is a yellow/orange and white fuzzy butt kitty. She's who knows how old... well older. I'm her third and last owner. She is adored and cherished with me. She has weak knees and doesn't have all her teeth, but she is the BESTEST kitty EVER. She sleeps on my head at night and I'm fairly certain she'd wake me up if a bat were to attack me in my sleep. o.0
If you were a color what color would you be? If I were a color? *blink* If I were a color I would be ever changing as I am ever changing. Life is not static. Nothing is and I'd hate to be tied down to only one option. (helpful I know eh? *winks @ my Pal*)
Describe your favorite shirt (yours or someone else’s).. I suck. I don't have a favorite shirt. I have favorite shoes. They are black boots and make me taller and I feel powerful and like I could kick total ass and have people begging at my feet for mercy. But you asked about a shirt didn't you. *L* I guess right now I am fond of a coral/salmon v collared shirt. It has these little tiny buttons and makes my cleavage look amazing when I wear it. Yet it's good for wearing with anything. I can wear it with black slacks and snazzy shoes for going out or I can stick on over jeans and sandals and be causal. Either way my boobs look killer in it. :P (Hey it's not just my opinion the honey has made comments I tell ya!)
What is your most inspiring image, flower, or object in nature? Water of course. What else would you expect of an Otter. :P When I see water or am in the water I feel free. I can do anything. I can swim and just fly through the water. I am graceful. I am powerful. I am just me in my most natural form. Water, the ocean, the lake, it's all just so calming. You can finally breathe and just be. Everything melts away. All the daily nonsenses. All the heavy heartedness and the struggles. They all just melt away and in its place is left a simple peace and everything is going to be okay.
*sigh* I need to get my ass over to OtterLand (Monterey) soon. I also need a pool. *L*
Tell me the best quote you’ve ever heard or read. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined ~ Henry David Thoreau ~ Best Quote EVER. One I have lived by and live by still and my life is all the better for it. *smile*
Do you have a wishlist? Nope. ;)
Anything else you’d like to share with the group today? I think I've shared quite a lot already. *L*
Good answers!
