I didn't have much time to knit this weekend... which kind of annoyed me. But it was mostly okay.
I did other things... like turn 31.
My birthday was Saturday so my honey wanted to shower me with gifts and affection. *grin*
There was chocolate cake with cream cheese icing involved. :D
We had lots of fun and did all kinds of neat stuff from Friday through Sunday night. Too bad I was still a bit out of it and was thinking with the zombie side of my brain.
I got a whole bunch of knitting books and even some books that have nothing to do with knitting. *L*
I got a REALLY cool giftie from Cookie. I'll have to make another post later just for that though... when I have my camera out n' such. ;)
I have been working a bit on the cable scarf. It's about half done. The rockstar garter stitch stripe scarf is sitting lonely and unloved. I think I may change the pattern to be more exciting. I just can't see going six feet of garter stitch. I'll rip my brain out. Maybe I'll add in some seed stitch. That seems more painful. I'd do basketweave pattern, but I already have plans for that and some yummy tweed yarn for a dealy with that.
I really need to learn how to play with Yarn Overs better so I can add more stuff to my knitting. I've been playing around with various stitches on swatches and yarn and ripping it back when I'm done.
I also need a fairly easy, yet interesting and smallish, but not so small I complete it within 20 hours or so project to keep myself busy on a plane. I will need to do it on circular needles (used as straight needles is okay) and probably shouldn't have a lot of notions and cable needles I might drop. I'm good at dropping stuff, especially on planes when it's a pain in the ass to try to find the stuff.
Anyone have any ideas? o.0
I really need to spend some more time learning how to do some of the basics/advanced basics so that I can start making stuff with shaping and whatnot.
I'd take the cable scarf with me but it's so big and bulky now that it would be awkward to lug around. (Plus the cable needle might get dropped.) The rockstar scarf is still small enough that it might have a chance to come along for the ride, but only if I decide what I want to do with it. I could rip it back and try a different stitch pattern, one that shows off the yarn better. The garter stitch isn't allowing the colors to be as "WOW" as they are on the skein. Got any ideas on that?
See what I need is a Balance Point project between Newbie and not so newbie yet not quite skilled. *L* I won't have time to learn a lot more before I fly away into the abyss of a 8 hour flight (each way) so it has to be something that will use my existing skills (whatever they may be). Although adding in a new stitch design using knitting and purling is okay since it's not a new skill so much as a new way of using my existing skills.
Damn I hope that made sense. *L*
In other news I need to find the Balance Point in making coffee. I don't often make it, as I'm spoiled and love the Valencia Mocha's at StarBucks just down the road. But when I do it should be somewhere between brown tasteless water and thick brain destroying mud. This shouldn't be that hard. Gah! So how much coffee do you use per cup of water? I'm fairly well desperate here. The one teaspoon per cup is not doing anything for me. It doesn't even smell like coffee. o.0
Any help given is muchly appreciated. I thank you, more importantly my brain will thank you.
Seed stitch the rockstar scarf and see how it looks.
I vote you do socks on your trip. You could use two circs, ya know.
Did you know that you can buy little bags of coffee that are like tea bags now? I think Folgers makes them. Just a thought. I don't know coffee, so I'm not help.
