Current Project Progress: (As of Monday Afternoon...)
Greetings! I have returned from my mini vacation. My brother came to town so we went around doing all kinds of fun stuff. He is one of the best people in the whole wide world so of course it really didn’t seem like enough time to see him.
Monday through Thursday morning he was here and in that we went all over Reno, Carson and Virginia City. We skipped going up to Tahoe this time as there simply wasn’t enough time. It was fun getting some time off work. Especially this time of year. The weather is getting warmer and life is starting to burst back into bloom. I love it muchly!
Plus it’s always just fun getting some time to hang out with my honey and my brother. Including than my best friend they are the people I cherish most in this world. I’m lucky to have three people I can love and rely on to love, support and treat me with respect… as well as hide any dead bodies. ;)
Monday afternoon the three of us set out looking for adventure and yummy drinks. Well my brother and I drank and my honey was the designated driver. ;) There was knitting involved as seen by the photo evidence. I took a bunch of pictures so I’ll have to break it all up by days.
Our first stop on the adventure was a drive up to Virginia City. Along the way we stopped and took a few pictures and looked around. I love this area. The view is amazing. It was a bit cloudy, but still gorgeous. I had my knitting with me. I was knitting in the car on the way up while we all talked and joked around. Here is my knitting proof.
Here is an image without the knitting in the way so you can how fabulous Mt. Rose is. :D (Click Image for much larger picture)
Living near mountains is one of the things I love about my life right now. From my house it’s only about a 45 minute drive over Mt. Rose to Lake Tahoe. It’s about an hour over the Virginia Foothills into Virginia City, but part of that is because you have to drive much slower going up the twisty turny bends. The time to get to these locations isn’t anything when you consider you get the pleasure of seeing all the beauty around you on the way up. :D
The picture at the top of the post was taken inside the Bucket of Blood Saloon. They have THE BEST Bloody Marys. Well the best in Nevada. For THE SUPER ULTIMATE BEST Bloody Mary you have to go to Rick’s in Key West. Trust me. That guy is a mixology genius. Look for the bartender that looks like Papa Hemingway. They also have the best Rum Runners, but I digress.
We had many drinks at the Bucket of Blood. Then we walked around the town looking at stuff. Of course I was having too much fun to remember to take more pictures. Just think of an Old West Mining Ghost Town only it’s not a ghost town and boasts 1000 year round residents. It’s mostly a tourist type place now, but that’s okay. It’s still a lot of fun. We looked through a bunch of shops and had lunch up there as well. I of course was looking for yarn. It’s almost a sickness. I didn’t find any yarn for sale. I did see some yarn in a tree. My brother thought I was weird for taking a picture of it. What can I say it really is like a sickness. *L*
Don’t worry on day three we found yarn, Baby Alpaca, now he understands.
On our way back home we spotted some Wild Horses! :D That was super cool. I love all the wildlife in this area and think it’s just awesome we have Wild Horses. *dances*
This time we saw three of them. Once we saw a herd of them and baby horses too. I hope they can live on freely. That kind of freedom is getting rarer each day so when you see it in person it’s a beautiful wondrous thing.
After we got home we had more yummy drinkies. I’m a fan of Unibroue's Éphémère. :P We also watched Battlestar Galactica the Mini Series while we talked and joked around and of course I knit. ;)
I am so glad y'all had a good visit.
Only you would take knitting into a bar. *L*
